David Zayas was born in New Jersey six months before man walked on the moon. He spent his childhood roaming the mountains of Puerto Rico during the freewheeling 70's. Back in the Garden State, he spent the 80's in the thrall of MTV. Kean College granted him a degree and the love of his life in the 90's. And in the 00's he lost his hair, but gained a home. The 10's taught him to cry but gave him the comfort of cats. And the isolation of the 20's gave him the time to publish his first book.
Although The Zayas Zone may seem like fiction, it is all true. His family is intimately familiar with what lies beyond. He did work at a haunted courthouse. And he did come face to face with the impossible. But throughout it all, he remained positive and poised.
His mind may be filled with phantoms, but his heart is filled with love.
The Zayas Zone is a book divided. Think of it as two sides of a dirty coin found on the grass just short of a wishing well. One one side, the tome details my Hispanic family's long history with the supernatural. From my grandparents, to my parents, down to my brothers and sisters I detail each one of their encounters with the unknown and the bizarre.
The flip side takes place 20 years later and details my own indoctrination into The Zayas Zone. It begins innocently as I step into the Atlantic County Courthouse on an extended work assignment. There, I encounter increasingly strange events which culminate in an all-out attack on my spirit by forces from beyond... and their agents in our world.
There is a twenty year span of my ghost hunting adventures and collected evidence which are unexplored in The Zayas Zone. There are also stories from my extended family, which further highlight the weirdness we were born into. This website will be a repository for those tales, along with whatever new phantoms I may encounter.
From blog updates to picture and video uploads, I will be expanding The Zayas Zone to include all the untold tales and frights from the zone of weirdness that surrounds us. I will also post links that touch upon other, less frightening yet equally outstanding corners of my life.
